Training & Development Services Unit

This course is designed for Academic Staff to enable them use the University's Learning Management System (LMS) for a blended teaching of theire courses. The training is aimed to open up possibilities for course delivery beyond the traditional classroom. Whether moving all of your course online, or just parts of it, this LMS training will equip you with all the tools you need in a concise and easily digestible manner.

About the Course

This course covers the most important elements of the University’s LMS needed to get up and running in delivering learning content either fully online or blended with traditional classroom learning.

The training course will span a non-consecutive period of one week, such that 5 consecutive days will be used for teaching and learning, followed by a gap of 7 days (of hands-on practical session) before rounding off the last two days with a quiz and a closing ceremony.

The course is also designed as an interactive course, with all Learners having their own sandboxes to experiment and practice the materials, and requirements for successful completion of the course.

 

Learning Objectives

By the completion of this course, participants are expected to: 

1.     Create Instructional Videos

2.     Register and Enroll Users on the LMS

3.     Create Groups/Groupings/Cohorts

4.     Create Questions and Question Bank

5.     Use the Activities and Resources on the Moodle LMS

6.     Mark Online Exams and Set up a Gradebook on the Moodle LMS 

Note

At the end of the course, participants will take an Online Quiz and provide Feedback on the course. While the Quiz carries 40 marks, the Practical, Hands-On Labs carry 60 marks.

Award Certificates will also be issued during the Closing Ceremony.

This training is strictly designed for Teaching Staff only. The training is to help lecturers schedule an online virtual class with their students.

Requirements: 
1. A valid unijos e-mail (e-mail must be active and up to date). If you don't have one, please contact ICT.
2. A computer system (Laptop or Tablet).
3. Come with your power extension cable.

Objectives:
At the end of training the participants should be able to:
1. Create or Join MS Teams
2. Start Teams Meet Now & Share Screen
3. Schedule and Manage Virtual Classes.
4. Download Students' or Participants Attendance.
5.  Install and configure MS Teams on devices (laptops/tablets)

This module course was designed to provide a good foundation and context specifically for teachers who wish to integrate the Moodle platform into their teaching in face-to-face, hybrid online, and fully online courses. Participants will experience (from a student perspective) each Moodle resource and then apply that experience to creation of similar resources that relates to the participant’s curriculum within their own Moodle environment. Take the first step in creating an online course by adding quality and user-friendly content! No prior knowledge of Moodle is expected. The workshop features:  Structured, easy to understand content  Webcast tutorials each week  Activity-based learning where participants create their own courses  Grading tools, creating activities such as forums, assignment submissions, and chats, as well as student management  You can progress through the course at your own pace  Earn course badges as you progress with your learning

This course was initially designed and deployed for the students of Diploma in Computer Application as semester course, but is now subjected to run as a customized training course as part of the courses for Proficiency Certificate in Office Computing under 2- week. However, participants are strongly advice to adhere to the scheduled period of the course. The training shall take place in hybrid mode. Participants must follow the learning experience chronologically.
